SS-31 (also known as elamipretide or MTP-131) is a synthetic tetrapeptide designed to selectively target mitochondria. It penetrates cell membranes and accumulates in the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it binds to cardiolipin and helps stabilize mitochondrial structure and function, protecting cells from oxidative stress.

Function:
