[ Introduction ]
Pomiferin is a prenylated isoflavonoid (a natural flavonoid) isolated from the fruits of Osage orange (Maclura pomifera). It exhibits diverse biological activities, including inhibition of HDAC (histone deacetylase, IC₅₀ ≈ 1.05 µM), mTOR (IC₅₀ ≈ 6.2 µM), and carbonic anhydrases I and II, as well as anticancer, antibacterial, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective effects. It also stimulates extracellular matrix proteins (collagen, elastin, fibrillin) in skin models and reverses drug resistance in cancer cells via autophagy activation.
